New research from Forrester reveals that only 17% of Americans own a Smartphone. Forrester’s research indicated that while 82% of Americans own a cell phone, the high tech Smartphones are not so popular. In an article written by Amy Gahran, CNN.com Tech, Ms. Gahran reported “this is true even among the most digitally savvy generations: Gen X (roughly ages 31-40) and Gen Y (roughly ages 18-30).” And according to Forrester, less than 25% of Gen Yers and Gen Xers own Smartphones. What is SEXTING? It is a coined word for sending text messages with sexual content, be it text or images, that will soon be showing up in the dictionary. Sexting is a sign of the technology affecting our society, for good or bad. Without being judgmental, technology affects all of our daily lives. Sexting is just one more example of how technology permeates our awareness.

There’s a new software application named TipSoft that allows you to report crimes anonymously via text messaging. The obvious target market is the texting generation who already live by their thumbs. This same group also witnesses more crimes than the average middle aged person, so the idea is have them help law enforcement agencies by anonymous reporting.
