After Slow Start, Windows 7 Phone Sales Take Off

Microsoft announced that despite a slow start, Windows 7 Phone sales have reached over 1.5 million in 6 weeks. It is important to note, however, that these figures reflect phones sold to retail outlets as well as consumers. There are no figures yet for phones sold and in the hands of consumers. Windows Phone Apps More Expensive than iPhone Apps… Really?

Comparison chart shows paid apps for Windows Phones are on average more expensive than apps for iPhones. According to O’Reilly Research, the average Windows phone app will cost you $6.16, whereas the apps for the iPhone are only $3.43 on average. Apple and Nokia Battle It Out in Court

Apple is fighting for all its worth. The mighty Apple is in the middle of lawsuits with Nokia, HTC and Motorola, to name a few. Nokia and Apple are currently in court, each claiming the other violated patent infringements. The 2 companies have been suing and countersuing since 2009. It doesn’t look like it’s going well for Apple though. According to an article by Dean Wilson, TechEye.net, the International Trade Commission (ITC) is backing Nokia in the lawsuit with Apple. Microsoft at War with Motorola over Droid Phones

Last month Microsoft sued Motorola over alleged patent infringement. Microsoft claims that the Android Smartphones are using Microsoft technology. Microsoft unveiled two new Smartphones on Monday

Microsoft has entered the phone market! The new phones, Kin One and Kin Two will hit the US market in May through Verizon, and through carrier Vodafone Group PLC (which owns Verizon Wireless in partnership with Verizon Communications Inc.), in Germany, Italy, Spain and The United Kingdom later this fall. Microsoft releasing new cell phones to Verizon this month

Last month Gizmodo leaked documents stating that the new Microsoft “Turtle” will be released late in April, with rumors hinting that the Microsoft “Pure” isn’t far behind. Microsoft announces Windows 7 Mobile is brand new!

Windows Mobile 7 takes off in a new direction with a whole new OS. Microsoft has confirmed that Windows Mobile 7 will be developing software for the Windows Phone 7 Series devices using either Silverlight or XNA, the toolset used to create Xbox games. The new OS is a complete break from the old Windows Mobile 6x, and Microsoft has no plans to make those phones using Mobile 6x upgradeable. Read the rest of this entry »
