The much touted iPad 2 is rumored to be revealed today in San Francisco at 1:00 pm. Special invitations for the event were sent out with a sneaky-looking iPad peeking out from behind the date. Rumors are flying about just what the new features will be. According to Catharine Smith, The Huffington Post, MacLife offers a sobering prediction: “While many may be disappointed if Apple doesn’t ’shock and awe’ with the next iPad, the reality is that the company’s tablet is leading the market by such a wide margin at this point, Cupertino can still afford to coast a little bit — at least until September, when the rumor mill claims we’ll likely see a more spectacular iPad 2 with the bells and whistles that make us all swoon.”

We are at the end of a significant decade for technology. Probably more than any previous decade, technology has shaped our society and culture. Wolfgang Gruener, Tomshardware.com, has listed what he thinks are the top 10 technologies that have most affected us since 2000. O’Car is not a new Irish type of car. O’Car is a car stereo which uses the iPhone as its display and control panel. Why the Irish sounding name? The O’Car stereo really comes from Oxygen Audio. It has an iPhone swiveling dock so you can just drop your iPhone in there and use it for display and control. There is also an RDS radio tuner and a 4×55-watt amp, so you can still tune in to something when you forget your phone. (As if you would become detached from your precious iPhone….) The iPhone charges when it’s docked, and you can make and receive calls via the integrated Bluetooth hands-free kit. In addition, the O’Car will hold the phone vertically or horizontally, so you can use any app, turning this nifty stereo into a GPS navigator or Pandora Radio. Read the rest of this entry »

Apple has filed a lawsuit claiming patent infringements by Motorola. The lawsuit alleges that 9 Motorola devices are using multitouch patents owned by Apple. The Motorola phones are the Droid, Droid 2, Droid X, Cliq, Cliq XT, BackFlip, Devour A555, Devour i1, and Charm. Apple claims that Motorola infringes on 6 of Apple’s patents. BlackBerry cell phone maker, Research in Motion, is set to buy QNX Software Systems, which was acquired by Harmon, which makes audio and entertainment products. The partnership would allow Research in Motion, QNX and Harman to build a better system between Smartphones and audio and entertainment systems in vehicles. Read the rest of this entry »
