Nikkei Business Daily’s announcement shook up Japan’s cell phone industry. Rumor has it that NTT DOCOMO, Japan’s premier provider of leading-edge mobile voice, data and multimedia services, will finally start allowing unlocked devices on its network. Apple announced plans to sell the iPhone4 unlocked and contract free in Canada. What? Here in the States we can’t even get a 2nd service provider to carry the iPhone, let alone unlocked cell phones. Across the pond in the UK you can already get the iPhone4 unlocked. Read the rest of this entry »

Tawkon’s app that measures cell phone radiation is still being banned by Apple. Just last week the app for the BlackBerry was released, but Apple is still rejecting the cell phone app. As more and more manufacturers embrace this new technology, you have to wonder why Apple isn’t. A new iPhone app allows medical staff to monitor a patient’s status. The Nashville Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) Department of Anesthesiology created an iPhone application called VigiVu. According to research firm NPD Group, BlackBerry is still number one in sales of Smartphones in the US. But the big surprise was that the Android edged out Apple’s iPhone by 7%. Apparently more consumers wanted to use the new Google friendly interface. The most innovative devices at the CTIA show floor in Las Vegas were the Androids. The CTIA really centered around the Android. The show could have been easily named Android World.
