Do you hate fighting traffic? There’s an app for that, especially if you are a BlackBerry user. Just released this week, BlackBerry Traffic version 2.0.0.1749 adds new features and a completely revised UI. It has new icons, a new color scheme, the ability to select from multiple routes, and the addition of pre-set destinations directly from BlackBerry’s native contacts app. It is compatible with any GPS enabled BlackBerry Smartphone operating on OS 4.6 and up in North America.

The new iPhone from Apple is due out sometime this summer. Rumors are flying about just what the new iPhone will include. First of all, will it be called the iPhone 5? For simplicity, that’s what I will call it. Notable sites like PC World Report, iPhonereleasedate.org, and the UK’s The Independent are reporting “reliable rumors” (if there are such things.) Speculation about what will and won’t be included in the new iPhone differs, but most agree there will be a new case design. The back will be made from aluminum rather than glass, and the phone itself will be thinner. It is rumored that the screen will be shatterproof and scratch resistant. Other rumors include an HD audio system and a better “all the time” GPS mode.

Want a new Android Tablet for $249? The Nook Color actually runs on the Android mobile operating system. Of course out of the box it isn’t an Android tablet, but with some tweeking, you can root the Nook Color to be an Android tablet. According to an article posted by Anya Vinclauv, Gather Technology, “Once rooted, the Nook Color has access to the Android 3.0 Honeycomb port, and the ability to run apps from Android Market. The market was locked out upon purchase of the device from Barnes & Noble.”

Effective January 4, 2011, Motorola will split into 2 companies. According to an article written by Peter Svensson, AP, Motorola is splitting its consumer-oriented side, which makes cell phones and cable set-top boxes, from the side that sells police radios and barcode scanners to government and corporate customers. Shareholders of record on December 21, 2010 will receive shares in both the consumer business, Motorola Mobility, and the professional business, Motorola Solutions after the first of the year. When Verizon finally gets the iPhone 4, Apple’s stocks will skyrocket. This is according to Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster. Munster is so sure that Verizon will have the iPhone 4 in early 2011 that he has included Verizon in his Apple sales estimates for next year. Google released its Latitude application for the iPhone last week after a nearly two year delay. The Google Latitude app allows iPhone users the ability to share their location with friends and contact them through by phone, text message or email.
