Use your cell phone without using any minutes on your plan. Ymax announced at the CES 2010 that they are developing a MagicJack for cell phones. Much like the original MagicJack, which uses your home broadband connection for phone calls, the new cell phone MagicJack will utilize the same technology. Gary Arendash, University of South Florida in Tampa, reports that exposure to cell phone radiation has decreased the plaque causing Alzheimer’s Disease in mice. Boston police seem a bit overzealous in protecting their activities from being recorded. Cell phone users recording video or audio of the police using excessive force in their arrests are being arrested. The police are charging these concerned citizens with illegal surveillance. Sonim CEO Bob Plaschke challenged a reporter at the CES 2010 to try to break the new Sonim XP1 cell phone. Much to his dismay the reporter, captured on YouTube (see below), broke the phone’s screen on the third strike against the side corner of an aquarium used to demonstrate the waterproof abilities of the phone.

Seal Shield now has a dishwasher safe cell phone. The new “Seal Cell” is waterproof and can be washed in the sink or dishwasher. Guess that means you can swim with it. You also don’t have to worry if it does the toilet dive…. LOL Read the rest of this entry »

Ever wonder what the “universal service fee” on your phone bill is for? The federal government uses some of that money to provide the Lifeline service to the poor.
