RIM will soon release its newest electronic gadget, the BlackPad. Meant to compete with Apple’s iPad, BlackBerry’s new BlackPad will have approximately the same dimensions as the iPad, a 9.7” diagonal screen, and will also include Wi-Fi and Bluetooth wireless technology that will allow people to connect to the Internet through their BlackBerrys. The United Arab Emirates’ telecom authority announced this week that BlackBerry data access will be blocked. Beginning October 11th the BlackBerry will be reduced to being just a cell phone while in the UAE. This means users would no longer be able to access BlackBerry messaging, email, and the internet. According to research firm NPD Group, BlackBerry is still number one in sales of Smartphones in the US. But the big surprise was that the Android edged out Apple’s iPhone by 7%. Apparently more consumers wanted to use the new Google friendly interface.
