Android edges out iPhone in 1st Quarter in US

According to research firm NPD Group, BlackBerry is still number one in sales of Smartphones in the US. But the big surprise was that the Android edged out Apple’s iPhone by 7%. Apparently more consumers wanted to use the new Google friendly interface. New report shows Facebook and Twitter use soaring!

New comScore data reports that Facebook and Twitter use on mobile devices is growing exponentially while MySpace use is declining. Facebook now sees 25.1 million mobile users as of January 2010, more than double the users in January 2009. Twitter grew to 4.7 million, which is 4-times what it was last year. Verizon posts 4th Quarter Loss

Verizon had 13,000 lay offs last year and is expected to do the same this year. With their land line business shrinking and stiff competition in the wireless market, Verizon faces a tough road ahead. The economy hasn’t helped, but Verizon CEO Ivan Seidenberg feels 2011 will be the turn around year. New Google Phone unlocks the Android

Google, Inc. will begin selling its new Nexus One cell phone in 2010. In the beginning, the phone will be sold without being tied to any ONE cell phone provider.
