Sony’s eBook Reader is great and Amazon’s Kindle is amazing, but there’s nothing stopping you from doing the same things right from your smartphone. Of course, your phone may not present the same vast selection of books, so you sometimes may be settling for a smaller range of books. But if it can be found in ebook format, its usually accessible from your cell phone.

How to Read eBooks From Your SmartPhone

You can start reading ebooks from your cell phone after a few simple steps:

  1. For starters, you need to see if your phone is equipped with with an ebook reader that can be used. Currently, there are a variety of ebook readers that can be used - eReader, Microsoft Reader, and PDF readers are usually the most popular. Each software uses a different format, which should be considered when installing.
  2. If an ebook reader isn’t already installed, check online and choose among the many freeware or complementary versions that can be used on your phone. Some of the most popular eBook formats are .LiT, .PDF, and .PDB. After installation, you’re almost ready to begin reading eBooks from your cell phone.
  3. Next, download the eBooks themselves from the Internet onto your cell phone. Often times, eBooks can be located for free online but they are sometimes sold as well. Copy the files into either your My Documents folder or your phone’s storage card.
  4. From here, open your ebooks on your cel phone by opening the program and tapping on the file. You should be able to pan through the pages with your stylus, zooming in and out when necessary.
  5. Additionally, you can take advantage of other helpful features that are in the popular ebook readers. This includes adding notes, using bookmarks, highlighting important information, copying text into another program, or even drawing within your book.

In the end, reading ebooks from your cell phone is often cheaper and even more efficient. Rather than carrying a Kindle everywhere, you can simply have all the books on your phone at the click of a button, and at a much lower price.
