1 million bucks was generated from a 24 hour crackdown in New York City. My hat goes off to NYC they really went gung-ho on this one. Being one of the few states that actually has cell phone usage laws related to driving they are setting an example, unlike Texas and its School Zone’s. Hopefully other states will take note and host their own 24 hour crackdowns. Not only did those 7,432 tickets generate an amazing stream of revenue, I am sure it saved a few lives.
NYC issues 7,432 for Using a Cell Phone While Driving in 24 Hours
In one year :
2600 Deaths
12,00 Serious Injuries
636,000 Crashes

There’s part of this story that confuses me. One would think that a 24 hour crackdown would have been all over the news. Right? So I would guess that about 70% of the people whom received a ticket, most likely new it was going to happen and they just decided to take the gamble. Of course it wont happen to you…
