As of September 1st, Texans will be fined $50 for using their cell phone in an active school zone where signals are posted. Sounds great just reading the title doesn’t it? Read on and it won’t sound as good anymore.
Texas is Taking Baby Steps Toward Cell Phone Driving Ban
The Texas Department of Public Safety declares it is illegal to use your phone in a school zone unless your are stopped, its an emergency or your using your cell phone hands-free. However, it is still up to each city and or county to enforce the new law. They must post signs at the beginning and end of the school zone for the law to be enforceable.
What a joke. Are they being serious?
So basically if a Texas county or city wants to, they can ignore the safety of our children. After all, what government official is going to remove our “right” to using our cell phone while driving. I doubt many, especially in Texas are going to even acknowledge this law exists. Who care about the kids anyways let alone the rest of the drivers or pedestrians in the world. wouldn’t want to cause and inconvenience.
Ok, sorry for the sarcasm, but this makes me sick. What a waste of bureaucratic time and our money, why create a law if it can SIMPLY be ignored. Way to go Texas. Glad you guys can still carry concealed guns, and run over our kids, at least they made it illegal to drink and drive about 10 years ago…

A child’s backpack lies waiting for its little boy to come pick it up. Shame it won’t happen.
There’s nothing he can do now.
Morning the loss of a friend too young to have left them.
Really, how does one morn for the death of our young?

Maybe you will consider this post before you decide to answer your cell phone and run someones child over.
[...] that actually has cell phone usage laws related to driving they are setting an example, unlike Texas and its School Zone’s. Hopefully other states will take note and host their own 24 hour crackdowns. Not only did those [...]
