Tony Fiend, undrafted rookie linebacker for the Baltimore Ravens was arrested sunday and charged with assaulting a Cop. The police state that they saw the linebacker pass a gun to one of his friends. Of course later it was found not to be a gun, but a cell phone.
Raven’s LinebackerPlayer Arrested for Pulling a Cell Phone
The officer approached Tony, whom is a Iraq War vet whom received a Pat Tillman Patriot Award, and demanded with the standered cop demand, “Stand up, turn around and keep your hands where I can see them.” Tony reacts by shoving the police officer with one hand and turning from the resturant counter.
Of course the Ravens Linebacker states it was the cop whom was aggressive with him and that he did not touch to officer. Tony feels he was approached with immediate mistrust because he is a black man wearing a seat suit and hoodie, the ole’ statement “Black in Public.”
The officer in all his wisdom states “The bottom line is people can’t be jerks at the Inner Harbor,” and continues “When a police officer comes up to you and asks you to do something, just follow instructions. There’s no need to make a scene or make a big issue out of nothing.”
Of course that makes all the sense in the world unless your in a place with a high crime rate, your a loaded football player with gold and jewels, and the police officer doesnt identify himself properly. I personaly have been on the recieveing end of a little bit of undue police harrasment as my choice of style is leather jackets and black pants with long hair so I hope that enough light gets shed on this case not to tarnish anyones record.
Have you ever pulled your cell phone and had a cop mistake it for a weapon? Seems this is somethign that may happen more and more as we all grow more attached to our litle magical devices. I could see it now, cop pulls over suspect, suspect pulls phone out to call his lawyer, or wife and the cop shoots him.
