So there I was, tightly packed into my car, ready for an adventure. I was headed on a mini road trip, off to visit friends and relatives for a long weekend. I wrote out thorough, precise lists a few days earlier (as not to forget anything), and had followed these lists to the T. Everything was neatly folded and organized and I was off!!!
Thirty minutes down the road I realized I forgot to charge my phone the night before, and forgot to bring my charger with me, OH NO!!! I had three options:
- Turn back… (I was already running late)
- Buy a new charger… (I was low on cash)
- Call as few people as possible, and even (I know it’s prehistoric) use a “land-line” once I got where I was going
I chose option 3, and made due as best as I could. It’s easy to forget how dependent I’ve become on cell phones until I no longer have one. I can barely even fathom meeting up with people, or driving without one. The convenience and safety of a cell phones are truly remarkable.
There is, however, a new gadget on the market today, which would have given me a fourth option. This gadget is called a portable battery powered cell phone charger. I WISH I had known about this device, as I would have bought one and kept it in the car in case of emergency.
How else could this be used???
- Camping / Hiking
- Power Outages
- Cell Phone charger dies
- (Or, in my case) Cell phone charger is left at home / lost
The possible need for a cell phone is present in all of these scenarios. I plan to buy a portable cell phone charger ASAP!
Also, a good idea is to keep a spare battery with you (on vacations/road trips).
I’ve been in this situation more than once. Something I’ve found to remedy the situation is to find a RadioShack or cellphone provider store near your vacation spot. The sales people are usually are happy to give your cell a quick charge while you kill some time.
