The most innovative devices at the CTIA show floor in Las Vegas were the Androids. The CTIA really centered around the Android. The show could have been easily named Android World. The Android OS is fast becoming the most popular OS interface for Smartphones as well as tablets. It’s even showing up on some set-top boxes and smart Blu-Ray players.
Is iPhone Losing Battle to the Android?
Major cell phone manufacturers like Samsung, HTC, and LG are coming out with Android phones, while Nokia, RIM, Microsoft and Palm are losing their stride in the Smartphone market. Should Apple pay attention as well? Is the iPhone in danger of losing market shares? Is Microsoft Windows Mobile 7 a threat to the iPhone? Inquiring minds want to know.
What’s up with the Apple vs. Google war? When Steve Jobs invited Google CEO Eric Schmidt to join Apple’s board, Jobs didn’t expect that Schmidt would take the technology back to Google to create the new Google phone. It’s very understandable that Jobs would be upset. What was he thinking though? We have all heard the childhood stories of inviting the fox in to watch the chickens… Wasn’t Jobs a bit too naive?
I think the iPhone will keep the majority of the market share. But until you can get the iPhone from cell phone service providers other than AT&T, many who want the same functions on their cell phones will be buying a Droid. Will the new Droid users switch over to the iPhone when providers like Verizon start to offer it? Guess it all depends on what the new Verizon incentives to buy an iPhone are. What’s your take on it?
