A New Dimension in Stalking

Stalker Note

The new Android app, Recognizr, would allow you to use your cell phone camera to snoop out someone’s identity. You could take a photo of someone’s face, and then know that person’s name, schedule, profile, and latest tweets. Created by the Swedish development company, The Astonishing Tribe, the new app in development would bring a whole new level to the lack of privacy. It uses a 3D modeling and facial recognition software. James Bond has come to the real world.

A New Dimension in Stalking

You can relax though, because unless everyone opts into this service, it isn’t particularly useful. But imagine what it would be like to go to a party, pretend you are using your cell phone to make a call, and instead take a picture of some hottie across the room. Within moments you could be browsing through their Facebook profile, or looking at their tweets.

This app takes us to a whole new level of stalking. Does this bother you as much as it bothers me? What will those poor teens will do when their sexting comes to light? (See my blog Teen Sexting… a whole new way of flirting?) Their Tweets would be available to haunt them for the rest of their lives. Scary, isn’t it?
