You know I think people really love their cell phones for different reasons. Some people love their cell phones because they can record video and take pictures all while having the convenience of also being able to use it as a phone. Some people love their cell phone because they can watch TV and videos even while they are not at home. I am much easier to please. I love my cell phone for a simple reason: I can call my friends and family no matter where I am in the world without having to search for a pay phone or the kindness of a stranger. I love knowing that if I get stuck on the side of the road, my trusty little cell phone will be there to save me from the big bad nothingness on the side of the road. I remember when I got my first cell phone it was 1999, and i was truly amazed that I was able to get one. They were still not exactly in everyone’s hand like they are now in 2009, so I thought I was lucky. I loved it and I remember talking on it like I’d never been on a phone before.
It also really saved my butt a couple of times. One time I got stuck on the side of the road on a holiday. All of the tow places that I could reach were closed and everyone driving along the highway where I was stranded were pretty much on their way to a relative’s house to enjoy some visiting and fun. I called a few friends and no one was answering but I did reach my relative and they came out to help me. I was really thrilled with the convenience and that was when I realized how important having a cell phone was. I had been stranded before and only relied on the kindness of a stranger to help me. Cell phones are amazing when it comes to that. It has even helped people stuck in trunks of cars or stuck in cars after being kidnapped or in other times of dire need. This is why I love my cell phone.
So you can love your fancy iphone apps and the youtube videos you’re watching while you’re out and about. I will love my cell phone for the simplest of reasons! Of course it doesn’t hurt that I can do facebook while I’m out and about too!
